felting

I'm planning to make and felt a laptop bag. I saw one pattern where it allowed 1.5 inches extra for the felting. Is that how much I need to allow? I'd hate to get done and it's too small.

I really depends on the yarn you use. Different brands felt differently. I suggest you make a swatch and measure to determine the shrinkage you get with the yarn you plan on using. Unfortunatly felting is not and exact science.....
