Easy backpack/purse patterns for newbie

My 18 year old neice has started crocheting after I made her a poncho for christmas. I am putting together a gift box of a few patterns for socks, ponchos, scarves, hats... and I wanted to include a very easy pattern for a backpack and maybe some purses, any ideas?
