Pumpkin Candy Holder

I thought I would post one more pattern I designed. it is just in time for thanksgiving. I wanted a pumpkin that "felt" like real ones, so here it is. Please don't take credit for my work. Brenda

 

PUMPKIN CANDY HOLDER

 

Skill Level: Intermediate

 

materials: Worsted weight yarn, small amount orange and green;

crochet hook size G; tapestry needle.

 

bottom: With orange, ch2.

 

Rnd 1: 6 Sc in 2nd ch from hook.

 

Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around: 12.

 

Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around: 18.

 

Rnds 4 & 5: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around:

24, 32. At end of Rnd 5, sl st in first sc. Fasten off and weave in

ends.

 

Sides: Starting at edge of pumpkin, with orange, ch 13.

 

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 10 chs, sc inn last ch;

ch 1, turn.

 

Rows 2-32: Sc in first sc, hdc in back lp of next 10 hdc, sc in

last sc; ch 1, turn. At the end of Row 32, fold with right sides

together; working through back lps of Row 32 and opposite side of

starting ch, sl st in each sc across.

 

Joining: With right sides of sides and bottom together, sl st in

each st and end of row around. Fasten off and weave in end. turn

pumpkin right side out.

 

Lid: With orange, ch2.

 

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

 

Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around: 12.

 

Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around: 18.

 

Rnd 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around: 24.

 

Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.

 

Rnd 6: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around: 32.

 

Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around.

 

With right side of pumpkin and top together, sl st through both

thicknesses across 5 sts. Fasten off and weave in ends.

 

Stem: With green, ch9.

 

Row 1: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 chs, sc in next ch,

hdc in next ch, dc in last ch; ch 3, turn.

 

 

Rows 2-4: Working in back lps only, dc in dc, hdc in hdc, sc in sc,

sl st in 5 sl sts; ch 1, turn. At end of row 4, fold piece in half

and working through sts and chs, sl st through both thicknesses in

each st across. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Sew stem

to top of lid. Curve tip over and weave in ends.
