Need to find a good beginners pattern...

When Christmas comes, we get a nice 10 day paid break off of work! WOO-HOO! And since we aren't going anywhere this year and don't have anyone coming to visit us, my DH and I will be relaxing. I thought it would be a perfect chance to really take the time to actually knit something!

 

I can do the knit stitch but really have to work on the purl.

 

Regardless, I want to find an EASY project to make, but NO SCARVES and NO HATS! Any suggestions? Obviously a blanket is a NO-NO as I'll never finish it! Maybe a purse or something?

 

If you have any suggestions and even a link to an easy pattern that would be great! If it's a pay pattern that's fine too. I don't mind paying for it if it's something that I will make!
