Have You Ever...

Started a project, changed the stitches to something you like better only to discover that the way you are doing it is annoying but you can't stop because it looks really cool?

 

I am making a bee scarf and hat for a little girl. I have a pattern for the hat but I am winging a puppy scarf to make it into a bee. ( I do not understand a booklet that has a bee/ladybug hat, dog/cat scarf, and chicken/rooseter mittens-why not the whole set match?) I started using fpdc's when I got to the yellow and it makes a really neat texture, like a stair-step. I LOVE the effect of what I am doing but it is making it take longer and its not so easy to fpdc each time you turn instead of just the once.

 

I feel silly because I started this mess and I really like how it looks but I am getting irritated and I have three yellow blocks to go in between the black!

Oh yea! For me it was a long knitted scarf that I changed yarn and needle size every 7 rows! I was making it as a store model so had to finish it, but it did turn out really nice. I prefer crochet any day

doesn't working in the back loops give you the same texture you are looking for? That could be a way of simplifying the pattern to get the desired effect.

Working in the back loops doesn't make that one row stand up nicely but it was a good thought!

 

I just thought it was funny that it was my own idea to change it but yet I made it irritating. lol

I agree, it is really cool texture. I hate the whole fp and bp things, so I try to stay away from them. They just take FOREVER to do.
