wieght equivelence for cotton

what weight of yarmn is equivelent to cotton( I do crochet a little loosely, I'm making a baby halter top)! thanks in advance!

Do you mean cotton thread? #10 cotton, also called bedspread cotton, is equivalent to fingering weight yarn (#0 yarn weight--see this chart http://www.yarnstandards.com/weight.html). I've seen some cute baby dresses done in this weight thread.

 

Other yarn weights are made from cotton, example Sugar n Cream is #4 worsted weight, there are sports and fingering weight cotton yarns out there too.

it calls for sugar and cream cotton, so regaular dish cloth cotton yarn, is it the same wieght as worsted, sport, what?
