Felting Help, Please??

I just got a new cellphone, and I'd like to make a case for it. The finished size of the case in the pattern I chose is 5 1/2 x 3 inches, but my phone is only 3 3/4 x 1 3/4. So, here is my question.. If I were to use wool with this pattern and then felted it, would the finished case fit somewhere's near my phone size? Thank you for any help you can offer!

For me felting is mostly trial and error. You just have to give it a whirl!

Thank you Heather! I still am not sure if my plan will work out, but that gave me a little insight.

Does anyone have anything else to add??
