Question
Noahsmom
If you are substituting a different brand yarn than a pattern calls for, is it better to go by same ounces or same yardage?
For example, a pattern calls for 4 balls (3.5 oz - 250 yd) sport weight.
I want to purchase a different sport weight yarn that comes ( 1 3/4 oz - 145 yds)
Two skeins of the substitute would be 3.5 oz, but it would be 290 yards rather than 250 (more yardage). :think
I would think yardage would be what I should go by but I'm not sure?
