"Knitting" needle w/hook on end?

Recommended Posts

I got lucky at a garage sale today and was given a 3# coffee can full of crochet hooks and knitting needles for free. Yeaaaaaaah!

As I was looking them over, I noticed some of the knitting needles had letters on the ends instead of numbers. When I pulled them out to look closer, I found the hooks. Apparently they correspond to the regular hook letters.

Soooo, I thought 'Oh, wow! Cro-hooks!', but when I went to CPC to check on cro-hook patterns, those hooks had hooks at both ends. What have I got, what's it called and where can I find a pattern to use with it? I actually have 2 sizes of them! TIA!

They are not knitting needles with hooks. They are afghan or tunisian crochet hooks. They are used for making the afghan stitch which is essentially the same thing as tunisian crochet.

Here is a link for a whole bunch of free patterns, just to get you started.:hook
