Crochet INTO a single crochet?

Does this mean going under one of the loops?

 

I'm sorry to ask such a dumb question, but my stepmama/crochet guru is away from home....

If there are no other instructions telling you to crochet through a specific loop, then I think you would crochet under both of the two top loops.
