Need help making a graph ghan!!!

Hello everyone I need some help. I am wanting to make some graph ghan's for gits but do not know how to make them so I need all the help that i can get. If anyone can help me please let me know. I know how to make the graphs but do not know how to get the afghan started. I think that doing it in sc would be easier for me.

If you go over to my CAL i am hosting there beginning July 15th a tunisian crochet CAL but many of the ladies that have joined will be doing the sc method.
