Good Organic Yarn for Shawl?

Recommended Posts

I found out this past weekend that a friend of mine who is already extremely disabled with a chronic illness has found out she has breast cancer. She also has multiple chemical sensitivities.

I want to crochet her a nice shawl, and I want her to be able to use it, so I decided it would be best to use an organic cotton yarn; I know several companies make this now, but I've never bought it before so I don't know which one to use.

Does anyone have any favorite organic cotton yarns that feel nice and soft?

Thank you,

Nicole

BLUE SKY ORGANIC COTTON!

It is the softest cotton yarn on the market - hands down. The yardage is also excellent for the price and it isn't dyed at all - it grows in those colors!

I recently made a Sweet Pea shawl with it and I love to wear it. I usually just wear blue jeans and a white spaghetti strap tank so that I can feel it on my arms.

Thanks for the recommendation! That is really very affordable--great yardage. Your shawl looks fabulous, by the way. The yarn and pattern really seem to complement each other well. I wonder if she might like that pattern? I have the book. She has very modern tastes. Maybe I should ask her . . .

I just made a shawl for myself (knit GASP!) and it's really soft and totally NON irritating. I've been wrapping up in it on my worst and most sensitive days... and it's working for me. I got the cream/celery color twist....

and I'm pondering going back for the gold and the chocolate....
