Need help

Question

Ok,after ripping so many times I lost count I'm finally asking for help.

I started a pattern and right away I have a problem. But I went ahead and did what I thought I was suposed to even though the begining stitch count is wrong.I did the first 11 rows and now I'm 3 stitches short.

It says Row1 ch56,sc in 2nd from the hook,sc in next 5ch,3sc in nect ch(forms corner)*sc in next 13 ch,3sc in next ch,*repeat from *twice more,scin last 6 ch,turn(63 sts)

Row2-11, ch1,sc in each st across making sure to sc3 times in one center of corner,turn1ch. 143sts after row 11

So i did this row 1 i did exactly what it says but have way more than 63 sts.then after I get to row 11 I only have 118 sts on that row alone. I'm doing something wrong but all my books can't tell me what it is.Can some one PLEASE help.I feel like such a idiot.I may never finish a pattern.Thank you in advance.Heatherkmnw

Ok I must have added wrong.I thought what I crocheted already was right but now I'm short 3 stitches is there anyway to add them without tearing the whole thing out?Or do I just have to bite the bullet and start over??

Thank you

It says Row1 ch56,sc in 2nd from the hook,sc in next 5ch,3sc in nect ch(forms corner)*sc in next 13 ch,3sc in next ch,*repeat from *twice more, scin last 6 ch,turn(63 sts). So i did this row 1 i did exactly what it says but have way more than 63 sts.

If I add this up, it equals 63 stitches - -

1 sc in second ch from hook, plus 5 more sc (=6 sc)

3 sc in next ch (=3 sc)

*one sc in each of next 13 ch, 3 sc in next ch (=16 sc)*

~repeat from * to * twice more~ (16+16=38 sc)

one sc in each of next 6 ch (=6 sc)

6 + 3 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 6 = 63

Rows 2-11, ch1, sc in each st across making sure to sc3 times in one center of corner, turn, 1ch. 143sts after row 11....after I get to row 11, I only have 118 sts on that row...

Are you sure you're only supposed to have 143 stitches after row 11? I seem to be missing something here. You should have four corners in each row, and then add 3 stitches per corner, per row (12 additional stitches per row), so it would seem that at Row 11 you should have 183 stitches total....

OOPS - MY MISCOUNT!!! you are only adding two ADDITIONAL stitches per corner per row (you have to put one stitch in center stitch anyway...duh!) - adding 8 additional stitches per row. So you will end up with 143 stitches if you put 3 stitches in the center stitch of each corner - and you should have four corners per row. It really helps to put a stitch marker in the center stitch of each corner as you complete - so much easier to find the center stitch to crochet into when you are doing the next row.

Row 1: 63 sts

Row 2: 63 + 8 = 71

Row 3: 71 + 8 = 79

Row 4: 79 + 8 = 87

Row 5: 87 + 8 = 95

Row 6: 95 + 8 = 103

Row 7: 103 + 8 = 111

Row 8: 111 + 8 = 119

Row 9: 119 + 8 = 127

Row 10: 127 + 8 = 135

Row 11: 135 + 8 = 143
