Crocheting an American Flag, Needs help with Stars!

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends!

I just started crocheting about 3 years ago when I went away to college. Right now I am crocheting an American flag for my brother. I am almost done I have about 2 red stripes and a white left to complete.

My question is... what to do for the 50 stars? I have enough room to put 50 stars on the blanket, but I don't know how to crochet simple stars.

Can any one help? Does any one have a EASY pattern to follow?

Like I said before I haven't been crocheting long and I sometimes get confused with what the shorthand in the patterns mean.

I can upload a photo of the blanket if that would help!!!

Thank you,

Marita

Hello and welcome!

Best source of patterns online is CPC:

Not sure what size stars you need but you might try these. They're easy, I've made some:

Just put in star or stars in the search and you'll get lots of returns. :)

I made an american flag a while ago and it didn`t work out as expected. it was the wrong shape (miscalculated the stripes) so it was an artists impression of an american flag. I cheated and finished crocheting and sent it to my Mom heheh. what she did was cut out a star template in cardboard and sew on the stars using a template. she ended up with 53 stars as she got exited. but hey my nephew loves it and takes it camping with him. here is a pic to give you an idea.

jakeamericanflag-1.jpg I dont think he was really asleep. I am not going to show the full thing as I don`t want to upset anyone. hope this was helpful.
