Bouquet options?

Recommended Posts

Hi all :)

I have a quick question about my wedding bouquet. My fiance and I are getting married in about 2 months, at the prison where he's currently incarcerated (long story!!). I plan on crocheting my bouquet, since real flowers are not allowed. Also, the stems cannot have wire in them. I was wondering what alternative I could use to wire stems? Would felting them possibly work?

Thanks all in advance!

Much appreciated :)

You could attach the crocheted flowers to lots of beautiful ribbons and then thickly braid the ribbons together to make the "stem" of the bouquet which you'll be holding. You could even have the tails of the ribbons drape down at the end of the braid.

I know this sounds like it would be ugly but you could cover them up with ribbons -- what about drinking straws? Would they let you use straws? They are stiff enough to hold the flowers upright and you could spiral ribbon down over each straw to keep them covered. You could use those small coffee stirrer type straws - they are closer to the size of wire.

Congratulations by the way!
