Felting Questions

Lexamark

Question

I'm making a stuffed Giraffe toy(http://www.roxycraft.com/The_trio_info.htm) using a worsted weight yarn that is made of 100% wool. Because of the stiffness of the wool, and the light colour, the inc and dec stitches are very noticeable, and I thought I might try felting it.

I've never done a felting project before, and having read about it, it seems fairly simple. I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do considering this toy is basically an unstuffed ball. If I try felting it, are the sides going to stick to one another? I've seen lots of felted purse patterns, so I'm sure there is a way to accomplish this, but can anyone give me any tips?

Hi!

It's possible that the sides might felt together, but with a little patience, and gentle pulling, you should be able to pull it apart. I've felted several items, and have only had that happen once.

I'd love to see your felted giraffe when you've finished him!!
