long sleeved t-shirt made from sock yarn?

woolandflax

Question

I want to make a shirt for my son(3 yrs. old) and then one for my hubby using some camo sock yarn I found at hobby lobby. But I don't have a pattern, I could knit it or crochet it; either way is fine with me. If you see anything that might work, please let me know! Thanks so much!

Hmm, Do you mean long sleeve or short sleeve? If its short sleeve, you could always get one of their undershirts and use that as a template for a pattern? make a gauge swatch and go from there? find o ut how many stitches per inch and with what hook and then measure the width of the shirts, and then find out how many rows make how many inches, and measure from the underarm of the shirt down to see how many rows? just some ideas, but good luck in your search! Sounds like a really fun project!

I mean long sleeved. My husband hunts and is trying to get my son involved so he wants camo stuff just like daddy. I was thinking it would be a great shirt for layering during cold weather when they are out camping and up in tree stands all day. I would really rather knit it for the stretch factor but at this point, i'm not awfully picky. That's a good idea though to make my template from one of his undershirts. I'll have to see what I can do. But if anyone sees a pattern somewhere please let me know!! With my WIP list being what it is, I can use all the shortcuts I can find!!:help

here it is! knit <a href="http://www.patternworks.com/PWShopping/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=800505&subject=U36&catpos=8" target="_new">t-shirts</a>

I think I can add the length I want in the sleeves and a cuff and I'm good to go. After allowing extra yardage for that, it should only cost me about 15$ for my son's shirt. Yippee!!!<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/ura1.gif" />
