baby blanket/lapgans

Crochet for charity, hospital, need ideas for "quick"baby blankets 24X24, lapgans 36X36., also making baby hats, I want something a little differernt but want it to work up fast. So any suggestions will be appreciated. Oh, they do not want whole in the blankets, so large spaces is out.

THIS PATTERN is one I've used for several charity blankets. The woman from Project Linus who collected my donations said it was her personal favorite as well. It's an easy ripple afghan that has no open spaces and gives you two choices for width. I imagine the larger the hook the quicker you'll reach your desired length. I think the repeated ripple pattern is 13 stitches long, so perhaps if you want the width even shorter you can just subtract multiples of 13 from the beginning chain(?).
