Lamb's Pride/Lopi

Has anyone ever felted using Lamb's Pride and (original) Lopi together?? I want to make a striped tote bag, and I have 3 skeins of Lamb's pride and 2 of Lopi.

I'm just a bit concerned that the shrinkage might be different.

Has anyone ever mixed these on a felting project??

Lopi is 100% wool. Lamb's pride is 85 wool/ 15 mohair mix.

Hi Juli,

I've never used Lamb's Pride or Lopi, but I do mix my yarns occasionally. They may not shrink the same (especially if you use just one type yarn for each stripe), but I think that's the charm of felting. What you will get is an original item with it's own unique character. My last bag had 2 stripes of super bulky handspun yarn 2/3rds up the bag and a stripe along the top edge, and it shrank much more than the rest of the bag. The extra shrinkage really made the bag cute! You WILL be doing a swatch first, right? That way you won't have any surprises, and can design the bag accordingly depending on how the shrinkage goes.

If you hold strands of each yarn together throughout, the differences in shrinkage (if there are any) probably won't be noticeable at all, since it will shrink the same throughout the entire bag.

Good luck!

Debbie
