Lining

Does anyone know any tutorials or have any rules of thumb they use for lining purses, bags etc? I would like to line so bags I've made, but I am not sure how, or what kind of material to use.

I've lined two bags, and basically, I just use fabric and cut it the same shape (but slightly larger) than the actual bag. Then I pin it to the indside, and sew around the top edge, and voila!
