need help please

I made a sun dress for a lady at my church it is my own pattern and it is a bit to big for her. would it be possible for me to do a whip stitch in the side seam to take it in a bit????? thanks for your help

You could try that, but I think it would make a bulky seam in the sides. You could try whipstiching darts; two in the front and two in the back. They could be significantly smaller, less bulky and if placed correctly could make the dress very flattering.

Darts are short seams (maybe 5-6") that you make at the waistline, under the breasts and under the shoulder blades. You'll have two in the front and two in the back. If you make them shallow enough, you can take in a 1/4" at each dart and they should be relatively unnoticeable (not very bulky) while reducing the waist size by an inch overall.
