Crochet Fantasy: help with pattern

Has anyone read over the tutorial and looked at the pattern for the Horse Sweater using illusion/shadow crochet? I am thinking I am going to use the tunisian method, but they have some different stitches I had not heard of. :think Do you know of a good book about tunisian stitches? I REALLY want to try this, but want to research it first a little more.
