Depending on what your pattern is, you might want to decrease different ways.

If it's all sc rows followed by dc rows, you could do 2sctog or 2dctog...

For 2sctog - insert hook in st, draw up loop, [2 loops on hook here] insert hook in next st, draw up loop, yo and draw thru all three loops on hook.

For 2dctog - yo, insert hook in st, draw up loop, yo and draw thru 2 loops on hook [2 loops left on hook] yo, insert hook in next st, draw up a loop, [4 loops on hook] yo and draw thru 2 loops, then yo and draw thru 3 loops.

If the pattern stitch is sc, dc, sc or dc, sc, dc - you might want to decrease differently. Perhaps the easiest way to do it would be to miss stitches at the beginning or end of the row. You could also probably modify the tog stitches to get a sc&dctog...

...it would be something like - insert hook in stitch, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, [4 loops on hook], yo and draw thru 2 loops, yo and draw thru 3 loops.
