I keep seeing on ebay an apparently rare hook called gem....

 

Could anyone tell me about the history, manufacturer and dates of this hook.

 

Is it really Rare?

I don't have any information on Gem hooks. I have some that are nickel plated aluminum and some that are the typical anodized alumuinum hooks.

Among my grandmother's hooks, I found a Gem(G) & a Hero(K), as well as several steel hooks that have no manufactor name. I would be interested in know more about grandma's hooks.

I would be glad to help:) . Look on the finger rest of the hooks and let me know what the markings are. Is the Hero hook marked made in Germany or in the USA? If you can send me a picture of the steels I may be able to figure out who made them and when. Any additional information would be helpful.

The Hero says "made in USA". The steels are marked simply "MADE 7 USA", the center number being the hook size. Thanks for any help. I've always been curious about Grandma's hooks.
