Any help on stain resisting a doily?

Welcome to the 'ville.  That's a good question.  I make a lot of doilies and I never stained one, they are strewn all over my house but they aren't subject to likely staining opportunities, shall we say. No kids or pets and we don't eat in the living room, where we have doilies on the end tables but use coasters on the doilies to put a glass on.  

I wonder if something like this would work - but it's pretty small, and I think if enough spilled on or near it, liquid could still get under the disk.
