How to shorten sleeves stitched vertically

Susan K

Question

I am crocheting a vertically striped cardigan and must adjust the pattern to make the sleeves 2” shorter. I have no idea how to do this vertically.
The pattern is from Yarnspirations

Caron Ribbed Crochet Cardigan

size XL

Thank you,

Susan

Linky so we can see it.

Looking at the schematic on the last page, the sleeve is more or less shaped like \  / .  This IS a tough one because of the shaping and the way it is worked, you  would have to completely re-design the sleeve  to change the angle from armpit to wrist.  Short of that, the only practical thing I can think of is follow the pattern and fold up the cuff edges.  I have to do this with my purchased cardigans...

Thank you.
A friend suggested I shorten by counting my gauge stitches and shortening by whatever equals 2”

I think that will work for the general large area but not for the shorter shaped ends

Yes I must turn up cuffs also unless it’s a 3/4 sleeve
