question re crochet cable blanket instructions

I'm working on row 4 of a crochet cable blanket, and I've encountered the following phrase:  "Between the next two stitches add two sc stitches."  I'm drawing a blank as to how to do this.  I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone may have!  😊

On just seeing that phrase only I would make 2 sc between the next 2 stitches.  This illustration shows difference between how we usually work into tops of stitches versus working in between stitches. It shows working with dc but as it says it applies to any stitch.
