You could crochet the kippah and then cross stitch the scotties on it.

This site has slanted graph paper so you can graph your design out and see what it is really going to look like because of the normal bias.

This person has come up with ways to get sharper definition.  I havent tried it.  Its for hdc or dc.

It is unfortunate that by virtue of the way crochet stitches are made that its difficult to get nice crisp lines.
