What does it mean when the pattern just says, stich 10?

So it does not even tell you which stitch to make?  That is the exact instruction for an entire row or round?  Is it telling you to work into stitch 10, is it telling you to make 10 stitches, or is it the stitch count.  I dont know without more info. Is the pattern on the internet so you can provide a link?  If not what is the name of the pattern and source.  You can type out a row or two and not be in violation of copyright.
