I'm stuck on this pattern. Any help is appreciated, thank you !

To get to the right place to start next rnd, sl st twice into next ch 5 space, ch 1, 1sc into same ch 5 loop, *ch5, 1 sc into next ch 5 loop; rep from *

Hi, welcome to the 'ville!

I think it should have said "slip stitch into the first 2 chains of the next 5 space" and then the rest, because you can only slip stitch into a stitch, not a space; the only thing you can do 'in the air' is a chain.  This is a common way to start a round in a doily that has rounds of chain  spaces, the 2 slip stitches plus the sc in your case get you more or less invisibly to the 3rd chain, which is right in the middle of the 5 chains.

Just in case it comes up later, if you see something like 'chain 2, DC in the next chain space', that's not quite the same thing as the above but related - the DC acts like 2-ish chains, so positions your hook in the middle of (the equivalent of) a 5 chain space.
