You can block acrylic, but it springs back some. Also, it's only good until it gets washed again. It doesn't hold blocking.

I block acrylic items that I'm gifting. There are several methods. Here's mine for afghans...

Make a block sandwich on a floor or low pile carpet. 

1. Layer of towels

2. Damp, not wet, afghan. Fresh from the washer is good. Spread it out how you want it to look.

3. Layer of towels

4. Apply steam heat or iron lightly. Careful that your iron doesn't sit in one spot. It can kill (fuse together) acrylic yarn.

5. Layer of cardboard 

6. Weight. Books work well.

Let sit for 4-5 days.
