Mermaid afghan pattern

Hello Everyone,

 

I want to make my grand daughter a mermaid afghan, and was wondering if anyone had made one with a mile a minute pattern?  I think I could get the body of it made, but do not know how to make the fins.  Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I think you would have a challenge converting a mile a minute pattern, which is a rectangle, into a tapered 'tail' shape.  IMO it would be easier to use a pattern someone had already worked out.

 

Here is a link to some patterns of mermaid items including blankets.  One of them is just a tail fin, if you wanted to gather and attach a rectangular blanket to it
