Border stitch identification

What's the stitch pattern for the black border in the link below? It's really neat and I want to use it!

one way to make points like that is to chain about 5, then work into the chain using gradually bigger sts---an sc or 2, then hdc, then dc, and maybe tr as well.  then sc or sl st into the main piece and chain again etc.  it will tend to curl so it may be hard to keep it looking like new.
