At the end of round 24, you have 54 sts.

At the end of round 34, you need to have decreased to 42 sts.

So, at row 29, decrease every 9 stitches (54 divided by 6=9); row 29 is 5 rounds from round 24; you will have 54-6=48 stitches

At round 34, decrease every 8 stitches, (48 divided by 6=8); you will end up with 48-6=42 stitches

The math on this pattern was easy; sometimes it ends up in fractions and you end up spreading your decreases (or increases) over a different number of stitches, like 3, then 4, then 3 etc., or every 6 stitches except 1 which will be 7..however the remainder works out.
