Can anyone tell me what does it mean what a pattern tells you "work row of sc across back and at the same time evenly sp, Dec 2 sts across back)

I'd interpret sp to be spaced, so over x number of stitches you have to decrease 2 stitches.

 

This is interesting as often, if a piece is made front, back in 2 pcs, the decreases are at or near the sides.

 

Since this sounds like it's not plain stitching, I'd mark 2 spots in your pineapple pattern that look like a good spot to hide a decrease --equally spaced from the center back.  Or measure the back, divide by 4, and decrease at the 1/4 and 3/4 point.
