dying with acrylics and fabric medium?

I have used this method to dye cotton t-shirts but not wool, but I will tell you of my experience for your judgement.

I dissolved the acrylic paint in a container of water and mixed in the fabric medium. I could not get it completely dissolved and some of it seemed to pool on the bottom of the container, which left bits sticking to the shirt and made the color inconsistent over the entire shirt. This was okay with me as I was going for a tye dyed look anyways. When I hanged it to dry, the color seemed to run with gravity, creating cool designs. It also left the shirt very stiff until I ran it through the dryer to heat set and then washed and dried the entire shirt.

The color has lasted very good in the shirt and I have not noticed any fading with normal washing (they are for my kids, so they get washed alot). I am not saying that it will not work to dye wool yarn, but you will probably have some of the similar problems I had, unless you can think of a way around them.
