Jacob's Ladder question

When finishing off the Jacobs ladder afghan do you single crochet only around the last loop or around the last 2 that are pinned together?

It's a little confusing the way it's written. They are only telling you to fasten the two loops together to hold the loop that you need to single crochet into in place.  You're only going to crochet into that very last loop.

 

Just as a note - whenever I make the Jacob's ladder pattern, one the very last row, I only chain 5 in between the double crochets.  That way when you're looping the chains into each other, the final chain is even with the double crochets and you don't have this huge loop hanging out there.  It makes for a much nicer finish.
