Yarn type

Hi all.  I want to crochet a scarf for my daughter.  The pattern calls for 8ply (DK) or Bulky yarn.  Does this mean that I can do it in general double knitting wool.  I am just not familiar with Bulky yarn.  Not sure where the pattern is from.  Many thanks in advance

Odd, 8ply (DK) and Bulky yarn aren't the same thing.  Worsted/Aran is 10 ply, bulky is 12 ply in UK terms.

 

I would think you could certainly use DK; a scarf doesn't need to 'fit' so if the measurement is slightly off it either shouldn't matter, or you could change the hook size to make it to suit you.

Thanks for replying.  I have been knitting for years although haven't done any for ages.  This just confused me and I needed clarification.  Thanks again for your help
