help needed

Charlotte Anderson

Question

hi

i have been crocheting for about a year now,

i made a hat and everyone in my family really loved it so i started on a second one right away with the same yarn and same hook and i kept my tension the same, it was going so gd until i finished and made sure it fit but when i sewed it up i noticed it was so much longer then the first, i was wondering if there is a way to trim it down or something without having to start all over again :(

i included pictures of my first hat and second to see if anyone can help me

i would greatly apreciate it

thanks

I agree, you can't shorten it from the sides (from the perspective of how the piece was worked).  Roll up brims are great, very fit forgiving and the wearer can adjust for the weather.

For your next hat you might try a pattern that's worked in the round, from the top down; this allows for a 100% custom fit around the head and the length is easier to adjust.

Here is a general recipe to make a hat this way, and explains how to get the right fit
