sc3tog leaving holes

Nicole Pierce

Question

Is there any way to sc3tog without leaving agap?

I don't think I can go tighter and still get the hook through the loops.

I've been crocheting for years and have never been able to overcome this. Previously I only dealt with this stitch when making baby boots and it didn't bother me, or the customer but now I'm coming across it in amigurumi patterns and it looks just awful.

TIA

Try to do the sc3tog with just the frontloops of the stitches and don't pull yarn through in between.

So insert hook in the first front loop, then the sec front loop and the last front loop (always from the front to back, it might be a bit tricky) then YO and pull through all three front loops, YO and pull through.

Hope this helps!
