Using multiple yarns and how not to tangle

Hello All ~

 

I am making the 5 1/2 hour afghan from the Lions Brand site and it calls for holding 3 strands of yarn and crocheting.   No problem with the crocheting but does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the yarn from winding itself up as I crochet?      I have to stop after several rows and "untangle" the yarn so I can continue.    Not a big issue but annoying.

When you turn your work do you go back and forth or keep turning it in the same direction?  You'll have less tangling if you turn it back and forth.

I believe that I am turning in the same direction.   I am going to try the back and forth.   Sounds logical to me.

I place each skein in a zip lock bag. It keeps the yarn serparate. I have dome the 51/2 hour afghan. Its a fun

pattern.
