Help Identifying Yarn

I am trying to find out what kind of yarn the pink yarn is that was used in this blanket. I got the yarn from my grandmother and it didnt have any information about it. Does anyone know the name or the brand? I have checked Michaels and Hobby Lobby and nothing matched it. If it is hard to see I can post a better picture.

Really it could be anything, since we don't know how old it is and the colors in each brand change over time....not to mention the brands go out of business or change owners.

 

Is it worsted weight?

 

Initially i thought the colors looked like Red Heart Designer Sport, which i had but I guess I have used it all up.  Then I looked at a photo of the colors I had, and they aren't the same, other than maybe the lavender.

I believe it is worsted weight. I'm not really sure how to tell. I'm new to crocheting. 

 

To me, it looks like a coral or salmon color.

What size hook did you crochet it with?  That is a good clue on the yarn weight.

 

I agree the top color does look coral-ish.

does it seem a bit scratchy, or is it smooth and easy to work with, does it have any Sparkle to it at all???

It is smooth and easy to work with. It doesn't have any sparkle. Someone told me it could possible be Caron Simply Soft in Coral, Strawberry, or Plum Wine. I've never seen that yarn so I'm not sure if its close or not. Do either of you know?

in the close up, it doesn't look like Simply Soft to me.  It looks like a round cotton (or cotton-like) yarn.  Simply Soft is an acrylic with a lot of shine.  

 

If you used an F hook, i would guess the yarn may be a DK or sport weight.  http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/weight.html

In person the pink doesn't have any shine so I guess it isn't that
