Will My Machine Work For Felting?

I have a Whirlapool Calypso washer. It works differently than your standard washer and the agitation is different. It kind of...bounces it around instead of swishing it back and forth. I'm wondering if anyone has one of these and what your experiences with felting is.

 

I think it will work, but it might take a lot longer than a standard washer.

 

What do you think?

 

EDIT: It worked beautifully! The agitation in there is better than I thought (although my daughters sneakers and an Incredibles action figure helped a bit too!)

i have a front loader too .. and i jsut put it on its hottest setting and longest time and let it go .. usually works jsut as well .. you mi ght wanna throw in some tennis balls too

It's not a front loader, but has gentler agitation. The tennis balls are a great idea. Or maybe some of my kids old gymshoes that aren't dirty!

oh i thought it was a front loader.. but anything to help knock it around a bit would help

Give it a try, if it doesn't work fast enough you can always felt by hand.

 

I've had good results from putting two 5 gallon buckets (one hot, one cold) in the bathtub and using a plunger to churn the piece around. Oh...make sure it's a *new* plunger I wrote "Craft use only" on the handle of mine and store it in the craft room...not the bathroom...

laughing.. at the craft use only LOL.. i hope you wrote it clearly cause it possibly could be misconstrued as crap use only LOL.. yes.. i would think of that
