Thread Crochet Baby Booties

Celestial Seasonings

Question

I've completed a few pairs of booties from the Leisure Arts "Booties by the Dozen" leaflet, but would like to make them a bit bigger. . . has anyone had any luck sizing up booties by adding an extra thread (rather than just upping the hook size) without them becoming too stiff to be comfortable? And are there any recommendations for other thread bootie patterns?

Yes!! I have sized these booties up with great success! I went up to size 3 thread (Lustersheen), and if memory serves me right, about a size D hook. They fit my daughter perfectly. She was about 12 months old at the time. 2 strands of size 10 thread would also be equivalent to size 3 thread...should be about the same.

I also made these from that book, but can't remember if they were lustersheen also, or size 10 thread. They were given away...

Oh, she looks so cute wearing them! Yes, the second ones are also from the book. . . I'm working on them now ;-)

My newborn neice has a few pairs, but I really wanted to make her some for next summer. Thanks for the great advice! :woo
