Question

I am starting an afghan for my hubby for our anniversery, I like this one

http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-bafg.html

but he wants one that is really big and I dont think this is wide enugh. how would I increase the width? I know for certain stitches you chain multiples of a certain # so that the pattern stitch comes out right but I dont know how to figure this. I may not have said that right but you get my drift.

I am also considering this one

http://www.therockingchair.us/squareeleganceafghan.html

Which one will work up faster? Our aniversery is the 14thso I may have to show him a half done afghan and promise to finish it soon. Thanks for your help!!!

:hook:think Looks to me like a repeat of the pattern is 8 ie: 4Front post & 4 Back post DCs. Then there is 4 front post to make the pattern the same both ends. There is also DC at each end or at least the Ch 3 at one end and a DC at the other.

Confused yet? Hope not.

You should be able to add on groups of 8 as all the other stitches are allowed for on the original chain. So by my calculations, you should be able to add, 8, 16, 24 or however many you need, in multiples of 8, to make it the width you need. Dont go too big though as you will have to hold all that weight as you get near the end.

I checked it out using a piece of paper and a pencil and it does work that way.

Hope this helps.:hug
