Open Trebles Ornament Cover

Materials:

Size 10 thread
Size 6 steel hook (1.80mm) (size 7 steel hook would work too)
A round ball shape ornament (preferably the shatterproof ones)*
Tapestry needle (to weave in ends)

*I bought mine at Wal-mart, there were 24 in each package. They were the medium size ones.

Differents Stitches:

Double Treble Crochet (DTC)- Yarn over 3 times, insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull up a loop, [yarn over, pull thru 2 loops] Do this 4 times.

Treble Crochet (TC)- Yarn over 2 times, insert hook in specified st, yarn over, pull up a loop, [yarn over, pull thru 2 loops] Do this3 times.

Note: Ornament is worked from the top down.

Directions:

Rnd 1: Ch14, join with sl st to first chain to form ring, ch3, 24 TC in ring, join with sl st to first TC.
(24 TC) (Beginning ch3 does not count as TC)

Make sure at this point that the hanging part of ornament will fit thru the hole.

Rnd 2: Ch4, 1 dc in next st, [ch1, 1 dc in next st] Do this 22 times, ch1, join with sl st to 3rd chain of beginning ch4.
(24dc, 24-ch1 spaces) (Beginning ch4 counts as dc and ch1)

Rnd 3: Sl st in next ch1 space, ch1, 1 sc in same ch1 space, [ch8, skip next st, next ch1 space and next st, 1 sc in next ch1 space] Do this 11 times, ch4, skip next st, next ch1 space and next st, join with TC to first sc to form last ch8 space,
(12sc, 12-ch8 spaces) (ch4 + TC counts as ch8)

Rnd 4: Ch13, skip next st, 1 DTC in next ch8 space, [ch8, skip next st, 1 DTC in next ch8 space] Do this 10 times, ch4, skip next st, join with TC to 5th chain of beginning ch13 to form last ch8 space.
(12sc, 12-ch8 spaces) (Beginning ch13 counts as DTC and ch8) (ch4 + TC counts as ch8)

Fit ornament cover over ornament.

Rnd 5: Ch1, 1 sc in last ch8 space formed, [ch4, skip next st, 1 sc in next ch8 space] Do this 11 times, ch1, skip next st, join with dc to first c to form last ch4 space.
(12dc, 12-ch4 spaces) (ch1 + dc counts as ch4 space)

Rnd 6: Ch4, skip next st, 1 dc in next ch4 space, [ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in next ch4 space] Do this 10 times, ch1, join with sl st to 3rd chain of beginning ch4.
(12dc, 12-ch1 spaces) (Beginning ch4 counts as dc and ch1)

Rnd 7: Ch1, 1 sc in next ch1 space, [skip next st, 1 sc in next ch1 space] Do this 11 times, join with sl st to first sc.
(12sc)

Rnd 8: [skip next st, sl st in next st] Do this 5 times, skip next st, join with sl st to joining sl st of Rnd 7.
(6 sl sts)

Finish off and weave in ends.
