I need help with this pattern!

Hi,

I'm trying to make this ruffle scarf:

I was wondering if the Chain 100 is what the length of the scarf will be? I'm using a different yarn then what the pattern calls for so my Chain 100 is not 42" long (the length of the finished product). My Chain 100 is much shorter so I'd make a few more chains to compensate but I don't want it too long either.

No, the original chain is the shortest length and you can make it longer. When you do the ruffle part, you will end up increasing, which will make it longer.
