Crochet Pattern Questions

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to crocheting jewelry, I usually just make a single stitch and that is as much as I've ever done.

 

I am interested in making the bracelet attached below, but I'm not sure what kind of stitch it is. I was told it was a double crochet stitch and I found this video:

However, when I try to make the bracelet using Griffin Silk Thread it doesn't really end up like the bracelet in the picture.

 

I also wanted to know if anyone has used Griffin Silk:

I don't think that the 2 meters will be enough thread to make the bracelet and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to create the bracelet.

you probably need a sturdier thread like omega, leather or some thing with a little more body to get it to look like the one in the picture.
