Hook?

I got a new set of hooks today that has two ergonomic handles and interchangeable hooks. Well I have a G already but it has 4.25mm on it and in the new kit the G is a 4mm so what gives? And yes they are different sizes b/c I compared them closely to one another.

Different brands do in fact carry a number or a letter hook that are sized differently. I'm miffed by that, too.

I guess that that's just the way they are. My Boye 7(1.65mm) hook is not the same as a Bates 7 steel hook- which is 1.5 mm. I think when using a hook, I tend to go by the mm more so than anything. Usually patterns do specify the hook in mm but not always.

I just go by which one I like better. I recently bought all the sizes in the Bates Bamboo hooks. They're all a little smaller than regular Bates hooks which if PERFECT for me since I prefer the in between sizes.

 

1/4 inch shouldn't make too much of a difference. Try it out - enjoy. It's crochet - it doesn't have to be THAT specific.
