Convert a Boye to a Bullion hook?

Just read and admired Katchkan's doiley and post about using the bullion stitch. She switched from a Boye hook to a Bates to make the bullions because the Bates hook is in-line. Got me thinking. (I know I know... dangerous)

But, what if you were to alter a Boye to become in-line? Seems to me all you'd need do is take a little very fine sandpaper and sand the lip* of the hook down till it's "in line" with the shank, round off the sharp edges, and WallAH, you have an in line Boye hook. The side and bottom tapers that are unique to Boye hooks would then work really well, I'd think, for allowing the bullion loops to slide off.

Whatcha think? Worth a try?

*by "lip" I mean the backward pointing tip of the hook that sticks out beyond the diameter of the shank.
